Rapidshare sophies wet dreams

Richard James came up with the idea of controlling a 48 piece string section and a 24 strong choir by remote control, using midi controllers, lots of headphones and some remote visual cues, after being commissioned to write some pieces for the European culture congress in Poland. There was only one opportunity for a rehearsal to see if the idea worked, it was in the morning, the day of the concert! This is the result. This is the third Test Run generative video installation in as many years, each one produced for the annual Faster than Sound festival a part of Alderburgh festival UK. This version - TR3i - has new audio, the product of an experiment with a selection of sound-savvy collaborators. The video was divided into nine sections and each one handed to a sound artist for inspiration with no-one knowing what would come before or after their piece, resulting in the audio equivalent of a game of Consequences once the parts had all been bolted back together.

In a flagrant piece of political theatre, the governments of Britain and the EU have announced they have come to terms on a Brexit deal. Though the deal has been agreed upon, it is not yet official. It still has to be voted through parliament when they are recalled on the 30th of December. But, even while it feels awfully like taking the bait and being caught in a trap…discuss it we must.
